Heat monitors by Switched On I & T Services provide a cost effective heat monitoring system to measure the climate of the transportation environment.
The Heatwatch TR-1 is a new concept in temperature and spoilage monitoring. The added value of the TR-1 is its ability to track and calculate spoilage based upon a user-defined spoilage profile. In effect, this allows the user to program the TR-1 to behave and react exactly as the good being monitored. At any time, the user may poll the TR-1 to determine the condition and remaining shelf-life of the good being monitored, which is determined by the history of the environment it has been stored in and the specific spoilage characteristics of the good.
Packaging
The TR-1 is available in three (3) basic configurations; label, clip, and standalone.
The label configuration is normally for application of the TR-1 to packages. The form factor of the label makes it clearly visible to everyone handling the particular package. This configuration emphasizes awareness that the package is being monitored, thus promoting attention and special care.
The clip configuration is typically for placement where a small form factor is required. The clip configuration provides a 2.54cm diameter circular footprint that allows placement in confined areas.
The stand alone configuration provides the smallest form factor. Standalone devices can simply be "thrown in" with bulk shipments.
Software
The TR-1 utilizes a patent pending software package for programming and data retrieval. TR-1 software is very user friendly and utilizes a minimal number of screen to provide the required functionality. The primary screens are Settings, Database, and Spoilage Profile.
The Settings screen is used to program a TR-1 and launch a recording mission. Specific information such as the spoilage profile to be referenced, the sample rate, alarm set points, mission name, and the quantity if TR-1 devices to be used are selected and programmed from this screen.
The Spoilage Profile screen is used to construct the specific spoilage profile that will be referenced for spoilage calculations. The user is allowed to enter up to 40 data points that describe the time/temperature relationship for the product being monitored. The user may also select and construct a "High Quality" profile that is based on the spoilage profile but provides a margin to ensure the quality of the good.
The Database screen displays previously downloaded missions. When a specific mission is accessed various graphs can be reviewed that depicted different aspects of the mission. Sample graphs on shown on the following page.
Temperature Graph
|
Shows the mission temperature history as a function of time.
|
Spoilage Graph
|

Shows the original shelf life and high quality shelf life as well as the current remaining shelf life and high quality shelf life.
|
Histogram
|

Shows the distribution of all samples taken during a mission. Can be used to quickly ascertain the mean mission temperatures as well as general deviations.
